Javascript is not Flash, it's more effective!

Once upon a time you needed Flash to do some sophisticated design. Things changed with the Web 2.0 - Javascrip/Ajax came up and they have some deciding advantages:

• your content is easily spidered by the search engines.
• Javascript fits well into the design process. Content-Provider (XHTML), Designer (CSS) and Animator (Javascript) have their own separate area. For a Flash site you need an "all-in-one" solution. That's not effective and therefore expensive.
• Javascript is an Add-On to your website, so your customers may view your site even their PC doesn't allow those fancy technics. How many customers are using their office PC to surf? Think about their restrictions to do updates!

I do Javascript. Thanks to libraries like jQuery, Prototype/Scriptaculous, Dojo and Mootools it's browser-independent now. And thanks to Ajax and my server know-how i can do it in every mashup environment.

Oops - so many technics? Don't mind, just remember: i bring animation to your site, so it makes a lasting impression on your customer.

Drupal is a Content Management System, a software platform on which different people work together on a project called "Your website" ;)
There is

• a programmer, who drives your site on the internet
• a designer, who does the optics
• and you as the customer, who enters and maintains the content.

Drupal is superior by its effektive and efficient code base. Substantial things can be done reliable. Things that have to be done, can be done simple. There is an extraordinary balance between efficiency and maintenance. And therefore it has a fast growing user community, because website projects can be done in short time and limited budgets.

Cisco ISPN

Cisco Systems GmbH is the german subsidiary of the world leading provider of network technologies for the internet. I was choosen to implement their internet portal for the "Partner Development Programs Cisco ISPN Europe" (www.ciscoispn.com).

Main aspects of the project:

• based on CMS Drupal Version 5 with module extensions
• implementation of the Cisco CI and the Branding Guidelines by a Drupal theme (design)
• programming of Drupal modules for Workflow, Event Management, Mailings and Announcements
• complex permission system based on workflows: authors, users, administrators, visitors
• internationalization: englisch, german, other languages in preparation
• localization: local content can be presented depending on the users location, e.g. Germany/german, Switzerland/german, Switzerland/french.

The project has been realized in very short time. I am very proud of convincing the customer to use Drupal as the implementation platform to satisfy their time and budget plans. The system is online for over two years and is continuously extended.
